Deanna became interested in midwifery in 1975 and was attracted to the idea of women caring for women during the childbearing year. She went to the United Kingdom in 1977 where she completed her RN and midwifery training--she thought she may have to work as an RN for a few years before midwifery would be legalized in Canada, never dreaming it would take over twenty years! She has practiced midwifery in England, New Zealand and Canada. She has worked as a labour/delivery nurse in the Lower Mainland; she has also worked as a Community Health Nurse in a northern B.C. community and the Lower Mainland. Deanna is currently working in solo practice and sees clients at her office at the James Bay Community Project on Michigan Street.
